Talked to Poppy today! Yep, despite my prediction that she'd have the baby by May 1, that baby is hanging on in there and is showing no signs of wanting to leave yet - *L*! I think she says she's at week 38, and it's not unusual for first-time moms to go to week 40 or 41. She sounds very mellow about it. She's had lots of little contractions for a very long time, and one false alarm, so I think she's been able to work out some of the nervousness beforehand. She's still singing, and it sounds like she enjoys the choir. She even knows one of the choir members from her old college (*G* - Tig, why should that surprise us? Remember the two people from her college she ran into on her visit to Chicago? *L*!), and another painted a lovely pic of an angel watching over a baby on a piece of slate from the church's roof (it's a neat old church). So, things are going okay (*knock on wood*), and I'll let you know when she notifies me about the baby! Keep thinking good thoughts for her. *S*
Saw Van Helsing tonight - *L*! Oh, lord. Well, not quite as bad as I was warned, but I got bored in-between the over-the-top action sequences. I agree with you, though, Hyel - it would be cool to fly like that. *G* Random thoughts: Where in the world did Daisy come up with the voice, and who does it remind me of? What is Riff Raff from Rocky Horror doing in this movie? And - wow - werewolves look like shaggy Scooby-Doo's!!! *L*! I did like the noble Frankenstein's monster, though. *immediately forgets a very forgettable movie... except for Daisy's part*
So... it occurs to me that you folks are to blame for influencing me in my book/movie/music choices lately... I mean:
I went to see Van Helsing because of you guys
I bought "Girlfriend in a Coma" because of you guys
I bought "Stiff Upper Lip" BOYG
I bought a CD of Franz Ferdinand (haven't listened to it yet!" BOYG
I enjoyed the steampunk of Hellboy BOYG (by the way, unlike Van Helsing, that is a movie I would recommend).
So I'm inventing a new acronym in your honor: BOYG - "because of you guys"
Oh, and one more thing! There was a wonderfully written essay at TORn about how, even though the movies are ending, there are things that came out of fandom that will live on. One of you guys had a link to it in your LJ's. I couldn't find it by looking through the archives at TORn - anybody remember how to find it? Thanks. *S* After all, I wouldn't have noticed it if it wasn't BOYG. *G*
