LOTR Minimates - cute!
I was introduced to Minimates at WizardWorld last year, when I saw the cute Star Trek ones, and re-introduced on my visit up to see Tig in Ann Arbor, where I dropped into a comic book shop and saw some adorable Hellboy ones (I'll try to remember to post pics of them sometime - *G*).

But now I hear that - they're going to have LOTR ones!!! WHOOT! For pics and links, go to [darn! where did the link go??? okay, well, go here and double click on a pic to expand - http://www.afxstore.com/loofrimi2.html] :

Here's the text:

Art Asylum - LOTR MiniMates Are A Go!

Come take a look!

Many Lord of the Rings fans, including yours truely, have been waiting anxiously for official word about the Lord of the Rings MiniMates ever since the rumors started circulating over a year ago. With the teaser poster shown at Toy Fair last year (seen below) the wait got even more agonizing, but now it is finally over.

Thanks to Art Asylum we now have some images of the upcoming Lord of the Rings MiniMates. This will be the first line of MiniMates to be in scale.

There will be 2" MiniMates (the Hobbits, Gollum) which will utilize the same body as the Marvel MiniMates. The 3" body size as used for the Star Trek MiniMates, will be used for larger inhabitants of Middle-earth (Sauron, Cave Troll, Witch King). Finally, in order to address the human size figures (Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas etc.) in the Lord of the Rings, Art Asylum has created a 2.5" body size. All the figures are nicely detailed and include accessories like swords and staffs.

Army builders will especially like the fact that Art Asylum is aware of your desire for armies and plans on accommodating you with multiple versions of orcs, Uruk-hai and the likes. There will also be variant figures in the line.

The first release of figures will have Sauron, Aragorn, Frodo, Legolas, Gandalf, Saruman and an Uruk-hai. Other figures in the works include Gollum, Smeagol, Grishnakh, Wormtongue, Gimli, Arwen, Boromir, Merry, Pippin, Witch King, Cave Troll, Treebeard and as stated above, many different orcs and uruks for army building.

Pictured above is a small selection of characters that will be offered beginning this Spring with two 4-pack assortments from Toys 'R' Us. Like their Marvel MiniMates, these will come packed with three characters visible and one hidden. Look for them in TRU this April/May.

The rest will deliver as 2-packs and will be shipping from overseas this Summer. Five different assortments will be offered. Look for Wave 1 in late June and Wave 2 in late August.

A complete line list is done and will be posted as soon as we get the go ahead. Pricing is still being finalized.

Uhhhh... I don't think orcs have cooks. I don't think they bother cooking their food before they eat it. *G*
