Happy April Fool's Day! I LOVE my radio station - *G* - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Happy April Fool's Day! I LOVE my radio station - *G*|
So I wake up this morning to the radio, because, silly me, I forgot to "unset" the alarm for Sunday.
Only - it's not Sunday. Maybe it crept up on me gradually, but it wasn't until I heard "Lin's Bin" (a feature that airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays where the DJ, Lin Brehmer, answers a viewer's email with his funny and clever reply) that I realized - OMG, IT'S MONDAY!!!!
But... but... what happened to Sunday? Oh. no. I slepted through Sunday. ARRRRRRGH!!!! I knew it would happen one day! But... this still doesn't seem right. And, dammit, I'm just not ready to face work without a Sunday. How... how can I check to see what day it is?
Um. Damn. How DO I do that?
Aha!!! The "guide" on the TV! It will give me the date, or, at the very least, I'll be able to tell by the programming what day it is! And, hallelujah, it IS Sunday!!! Sunday... April 1.
*groan* They got me. God bless those sick bastards at WXRT - whooohooooo!!!!!!
*L*! You see, I'd forgotten (having been down in Indy for 2 years) that every year, WXRT does its almight best to pull as authentic an April Fool's joke as they can. And, by god, they're good. Like the time they announced that they were going to become a "cable" station, and split into 4 units - a Spanish version, etc. - so now we'd have to pay. One guy even went down to protest at the station - *G*. Or the time they broadcast from the new mall built somewhere in the suburbs - a mall built entirely of redwood (*gasp*)!
So for this one, the plan was elegantly simple - other than the task of these guys trying to not crack up on the air. They simply had the weekday guys come in and do their broadcast, complete with Lin's Bin (which I hadn't listened to past the announcement, but it turns out it was about "Mondays" - *LOL*!), the traffic report (hmmmmm... travel times sure sounded short), the news, and so on. As ordinary as could be - *ggl*. Although there did seem to be a running theme of the word "fool" being used in some songs, or, a but more subtly, songs like "Only You Know and I Know" - *L*! I even called into the station to congratulate them on getting me, bless them. The guy said he was glad I hadn't showered, dressed and gotten into the car for work, at least!
I love these guys.
Hee, very clever! I would have died in a panic! But then, I get up later on Sundays than Mondays, so I would have been hearing stuff that I normally hear from work - and I'd still be in bed, and aaack! Overslept!
Polar bear! So I take it you like Lost? :D Aww, and your Billy Boyd layout is cute. Did you see "On a Clear Day"? "That sea gull's eating your vomit! Vomit again!"
*G* Yes, that's an ooooold line from Lost. Oh, now, don't get me going on Billy - Gilly could warn you about that! *G* *L*! Can't believe you A) saw that movie and B) remember that line!
Oh, I remembered the line from Lost. I'm an avid Lost enthusiast. :D
Hee, I see a lot of obscure movies and remember a lot of lines.
(Do you think Paolo and Nikki will stay dead? I kind of wondered, since Locke said that things don't tend to stay buried on the island, if they would become unburied.)
(ooooooh... ZOMG! ZOMBIES ON LOST! I can't believe I didn't think of that! That, at least, would give the episode some purpose; I couldn't really see what the purpose of it was, otherwise.
Oh, dear... I'm watching TV and they're playing the ASPCA commercial, with "Arms of the Angels" by Sarah McLachlan in the background, and picture after picture of sad animals with one eye crusted over, or in bandages... Argh. That so needs to be banned. *throws all the money I have to the ASPCA to keep them from playing it again!*
(ASPCZ for zombies.)
I knew that Claire was Jack's half-sister ages ago, haha. I was proud of myself for guessing.
Well, maybe at least the tide will wash away the sand and the people will see, "Hey, Nikki and Paolo look... different. Like they died in agony, not just catatonic shock." Ew.
So much for almost-Keanu!
And, yes - maybe I'm lucky I got up early.
It's one that our Belchess made!
I'd mail them a box of cockroaches. (I probably would have shown up for work and wondered about the empty building.)
*LOL*!!!! Awwww, but think of the work involved! All the DJ's having to give up their Sunday mornings! *S* I loved it.
omg that's so evil!!!! hahahhaa - i don't know what trickses have been tried here today - been keeping my head down!
A GOOD evul, though - one you have to applaud! *G*
We actually tuned in XRT this morning to see what their prank was going to be. When we heard Lin's voice *and* a traffic report, we realised what they'd done. Terry was hilarious - played "I Don't Like Mondays", talked a lot about getting her listeners motivated for the new week &c.
I remember once they announced they'd been bought by a huge media conglomerate and their new nickname was (IIRC) "The Diamond"; all top-40 of course. They got me that year. Boo says last year they announced they'd be cancelling Saturday Morning Flashback and there was a huge outcry of shock and disbelief - many, many people calling in - and the phone crew would say "we appreciate your concern, thank you for calling, and have you checked your calendar today?"
Awwww... that's no fun; you remembered ahead of time that it was a joke! *G*
*L*! Love that they played "I Don't Like Mondays".
Oooo! I was wondering what they did while I was gone - that was a GOOD one.
I actually called them this morning, got Lin answering and putting me on hold, and got Norm Winer or somebody similar, whom I congratulated on their trick.
*G* Glad to hear you enjoyed it, too!
