Story from... damn... I know if I try to type up your name I'll get it wrong, so please respond to this; you know who you are! Ali and baby Jack were at the show. When it was over, this person saw Orlando running to catch up to the group of guys he went to the show with, yelling something to the effect of "Isn't that the cutest baby you've ever seen?!" - !!! *cues the "awwwwwww"'s*
So then, tonight, the show was fantastic - good lighting for photos, great sound, enthusiastic (and large! crowd), and they did bring the EP's (I bought 10, enough for those who requested them! They're beautifully done.) I'm in line for the EP's when I hear that Sala Baker is in the back of the auditorium, signing autographs! Yep, another Billy supporter! I managed to get a couple of shots for you, Lorna - *G*. Then, at the dessert party, they say they have a special guest, and it turns out to be Andy Serkis, fresh off the plane. And he's wearing a Beecake t-shirt and saying he was disappointed he missed the concert, which he had planned on seeing! So that's FIVE LOTR actors who saw them (or tried to see them) over two nights. I hope David Wenham stayed to see him, too, but I don't know if he was able to.
Anyway, let me re-wind a little. The brunch was fun. Billy not only brought the guys from the band, who ended up talking and signing things and getting their photos taken the whole rest of the time, but Ali and baby Jack were there in the back corner for a while (Jack is at the "standing up while holding onto a chair, wearing little jeans and a little shirt and looking quite cute" stage). He brought some great things to auction (a pair of jeans, lots of Beecake stuff, the jersey from "The Flying Scotsmen", and so on) and did a very funny bit while describing them. I videotaped it and it will be in the next post once it's uploaded.
His panel was the usual silliness, starting with him wondering about "what wings would people have if they wished for them" (oh god... wingfic!), to "can angels bend their wings to fit under their clothes" to "I wonder if there are any angels here; perhaps we can have everybody take off their tops and find out!" and so on. I didn't video any of that, but, of course, I took pics. And I now know what kind of tail Billy would have if he could have a tail (a fox's, really long, so he could casually flick it over his head when shaking hands with somebody, and they'd be nonplussed and wonder if they saw what they thought they saw, and then he'd back up into a car and drive away. Did I mention that he's a very silly man?).
I took a couple of pics of Doug Adams, who spoke about the themes in Howard Shore's music (those are for you, ninquelosse!). I took naps in-between brunch and Billy's panel, and Billy's panel and David Wenham's panel. Walking over, I kept hearing from people who were coming out of David's photo op that he was "HOT!!!". Well, he was pretty darn cute (with his shirt open rather far down - *L*!) at the panel, and, yes, I have more pics. Did you know they're doing (or did) an epic movie about Australia called "Australia", with Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidmann, etc., and he's in it? He even explained how he got the nickname "Daisy" (Australians always shorten names, like "Barry" to "Baz", so he became "Daze", and his sister added the "y", to make him "Daisy").
Another break, to eat and sleep. I skipped the autograph sessions, because I have enough, not knowing they were going to sell the EP's there so you could get them signed by Billy. *sigh* So mine's not signed by Billy.
The concert was great, as I said. I videotaped as much as I could - a few complete songs. I thought I'd taped the first two songs, which included the song he wrote for "Save Angel Hope" (it has kind of a reggae beat), but I hadn't depressed the shutter. As I said, though, I have several others.
And, of course, I took stills of Billy's panel, David's panel, Beecake in concert, etc. These will be posted eventually.
But the good news is, when I bought EP's after the concert, I got them all signed by all 3 of the other band members for the folks I bought EP's for - my treat! Obviously, Billy wasn't signing after the concert, since it costs to get his autograph. Ah, well - my only disappointment of the weekend.
I was really glad to see Andy Serkis at the dessert event, because my plan leaves about the time his panel starts, so I did get some pics, and get to talk to him. He just finished a role in some fantasy movie about characters coming to life in a bookstore - and Paul Bettany was in it! (yay!) I'll have to look it up in the imdb.
It was so good to meet so many people again, but I'm absolutely HORRIBLE with names, so please - if you read this and I met you, and I don't mention your name, please drop me a line and remind me, please? I do remember a few. I saw voontah, who really helped make getting to the Hotel Cafe a success, and saved my seat when I went to get my camera - THANK YOU! And thuri, Voontah's friend. Of course, there was the beizy brigade - *G* - and lionessfreedom and I swapped camera talk. quasievil_bunny was there, and bam_a_lam - yay!!! *G* - and magickalmolly, whom I bought another necklace from, and westmoon, and I was thrilled to meet kiltsandlollies and see ms_silverstar (I think I got that wrong, darn it), and my former seatmate from the first or second ORC I went to, whisperkat, and Bernadette and Rhonda from Canada (Bernadette made a book of my Philly photos of Billy for Rhonda on Shutterfly - and Rhonda got it signed by Billy! He even personalized it - yay!), and a very talented artist,
