*G* A funny review for "Epic Movie", and complaints about those damn Yankees on British stages
First off, apparently we Yanks are ruining British theatre, according to a famous British playwright (this is required reading for anonypooh and honeyfitz!): http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070126/ts_alt_afp/afpentertainmentbritain_070126151727

Secondly, abandonada, you have to check out this great plastic Legolas figure adventure by none other than Sideshow (as it says, it shows off the "flexibility" of the figure - not to mention its great abs - *L*!). Actually, the figure was impressively lifelike. But it's a funny story and very well done: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2548.

Thirdly, I saw this strangely positive review for "Epic Movie" by a Yahoo user (the majority of the reviews say it was incredibly dumb) and it made me laugh - *G*:

"Truly Amazing Endeavor

I can say with confidence that this movie is the best film I have ever seen in my life. I went through a wide range of emotions as I watched this skewering of epic films. I was emboldened by the Superman parody and tittered gleefully at the Harry Potter scene. In addition, I burst into wild apoplectic fits of laughter as the half goat man from Gnarnia showed up with his "Bling-Bling" (as the criminals of America's inner-cities say)! Genius!
After seeing that scene, I wished I were a half goat man dancing around with "Bling Bling" and entertaining crowds of visibly aroused onlookers.

Anyway, you HAVE TO GO SEE THIS COOL, THOUGHTFUL, BRILLIANT FILM. It is perfect for both males and females. Also, people who are attracted to fellow members of their own sexual classification will find this enjoyable.

Even though I am the cousin of one of the film's marketing people, I am really being honest about this. It is the best film I have scene in my life, and if someone were to have tried to steal my prescreening ticket from me, I would have gone so far as to brutalize them with a heavy iron skillet to get it back and see this truly astounding movie."

{raise eyebrows}

People are complaining that "Epic Movie" is incredibly dumb? But... {blink} from what I could tell from the trailer, it's supposed to be incredibly dumb. It's just that kind of a parody, as far as I can tell. Yes, I do know the pitfalls of judging a movie from it's trailer... but I'd believe the trailer about this. {chuckle, GRIN}

I understand what you're saying completely... but, as the user results say, there wasn't a chuckle in the bunch. And people who went expecting a movie so dumb that it's funny instead found it was dumb and unfunny.

I thought that might be the real problem with "Epic Movie." I know I'm quibbling here, but I think "It wasn't funny" is a more legitimate complaint, given the advertising I've seen. The ads promised a lame but funny movie. I can certainly see complaining that it wasn't funny. I'm not as clear about complaining that it was lame. They promised that it would be, and that promise was apparently fulfilled. {chuckle, Smile, Amused SMILE}

I've heard that argument before ... and there's something in it - though I'm not particularly/necessarily one for following/booking for the star names (more interested in the show) ... yes I follow ZUBIN .. but he's my British exception ;)

I'm glad Kevin Spacey got singled out in the hit list - he's excellent - I wouldn't have seen three of his shows and wish I could see more, else. And I have seen Matt Damon - who WAS fairly dire! oops.

Might be more to do with screen stars trying out their theatre legs (and lungs!)without proper training ..than to do with their nationality though... and it is just the quantity of Americans who stand out as being here in recent years and therefore catch the flak!

*Waiting to hear Daniel Radcliffe and Bille Piper reviews* ...in a few weeks!

True... but David Schwimmer started as a member of a well-regarded theatre troupe here in Chicago, so he - for one - has the training.

Yes, I noticed Kevin was well-regarded - yay!

My god - the ABS!!! As if Orli had that kind of musculature - *L*!

Loved the first comment there - something about "you mean, Legolas likes GIRLS?!". Obviously a true slasher.

*L*!!! Excellent photos, yes - I was very impressed!

But, sadly, missing the essential "slash" factor. *G*
