How bizarre! I'm watching "The Daily Show", which, [is responding] to a speech from the Senate in which a Senator was making an analogy between The White House and those against the Iran War, and Romulans and Klingons. Yes, this is true. And now Jon Stewart is talking on the phone to Nimoy and Takei to ask them their opinions of the analogy. *G* Such lovely men. Nimoy starts out acting resentful of being asked a Star Trek question... and then pretends to start spouting all sorts of trivia about an episode (like a true nerd), telling the entire story of an episode... while Takei calls up and complains about that fact that Jon obviously thinks Nimoy's voice is more distinctive than Takei's, and how could he think that? *ggl* It was great.
What else...? Everybody knows that "The Dark Tower" is coming out as a graphic comic, with the first volume coming out Feb. 7 - and it will give the genesis of The Gunslinger? (Strangely enough, I haven't read that particular book, but know the character from an AU MonaBoyd story which combined "The Stand" with that character, with The Gunslinger played by Billy... *G*)
And, if you live in the Chicago area and are a fan of Chris Thile (mandolinist/singer of Nickel Creek) or Edgar Meier (bassist), they're doing a show this Saturday, general admission, at Dominican University. Tix still available at www.dom.edu. (DOM! *G*)
And I feel so sorry for Evangeline Lilly, what with her rented house burning down just before Christmas, but I haven't heard anything since about it. I hope it wasn't too terrible losing whatever she lost there. Just reminded of it by an article about how she didn't stick around to answer questions after a press conference up in Canada this last weekend - but perhaps she was rushing to get to LA for the Golden Globes?
Just the usual potpourri, folks!
Oh - cat update: my brother's family say they're okay with taking the new cat back, and I think I will give him back. He's really wonderful, but my guys would be much happier without him (and back to their quiet life), and he needs an active playmate. Apparently the approx. year-old cat back at my brother's house has been rather down and missing his playmate, which is what I suspected would happen. Ah, well - I tried! Now I know that, whenever the first of my elderly cats passes away, the remaining one would be happier on its own. My boy cat is happy as long as he has me (to himself), and my girl cat is happy if she is warm, well-fed, and on a comfy cushion.
