Been AFK - Still AFK!
Sorry, folks, been away from the computer since about Friday and will probably be off until this Friday.

The good news is - it's because I've been moving into my house! My mom came up on Thursday night and has been helping me out. We've been cleaning up the house from top to bottom, including washing all the cabinets, all the windows, the baseboards, the shelves in the closets, the fans, and so on, plus re-painting the closets (a hell of a lot harder than it sounds - it's awkward in there!). Today the movers came. About half of the stuff in the truck went into the house... and half went into a 14 foot U-Haul truck! Yep, all my LOTR stuff went in there, all my books, all my musical instruments (sh*t... I just realized they're out there in the cold; I hope it doesn't ruin them - dammit! They were in the front, so I can't get to them until I take out the rest; cross your fingers. I'll be so po'd if I find out they were good for 6 months and now I've ruined them by leaving them out overnight. But I have to admit - at this point, I am pretty sick of having so much stuff, it's hard to care about stuff right now). Tomorrow I'll unload the truck into a storage unit and finish painting the closets. Now... if I can only put my TV together so it works...!

Yeah, I really hate moving too. I know next time I do, it will be with fewer boxes because I just have too much STUFF! Good luck with the instruments!

Whew... I know what you mean. Should have been easier, since I did this just 2 1/2 years ago, but I had to put a lot of stuff in storage this time, and that was a lot of work.

Oooo! Something for me? *G* EEE!!!

And bug me if I don't go and check out your RingCon reports (since I've been off-line all this time, I haven't done so yet). I'm so glad it was such a great experience!

*L*!!! You're traveling AGAIN?!?! EEEK! Hope all is well. I need to check out the new videos from 30STM! And... oh, yes! Gogol Bordello - are they the band playing at House of Blues in December? Did you decide to go or not? Can't remember what day it is...

Oh wow, I feel your pain, Roz. It is so much work, moving. Maybe it won't be so cold overnight that your instruments will be affected. I can't think that one night will matter? Anyway, best of luck on getting the work finished and make sure you get some rest!

Oooo... what a lovely Pre-Raphaelite icon!

Luckily, the instruments look okay. I don't know how you managed your move! It gets worse every time because there's more stuff, even though it gets better because you're more organized and prepared. And I had a moving van and movers! I really need to get rid of stuff, so I guess that will be my motto this year - *G*. How's it going with you? Settled in? Thanksgiving was probably your first real get-together there; hope it went well.

I hear ya on the "stuff" factor... I want to clear out some of mine before I ever have to move again... I'm taking a big lot of books to a used book store this weekend, hopefully.
Congrats on the new house!
Where is it?

It's up in Libertyville - about where 176 (Rockland Rd, which turns into Park Ave) and Milwaukee meet.

Awwww... where did the Unicorn Power icon come from?

Oh, and... did you see this: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/04003D1290E723B2 ? *G*

I have heard of that show, but I'm not nearly crazy enough to go to it... hahah.

I hope the instruments are okay. {cross fingers, Smile} Dad still has an over-sized case lined with foam insulation over an inch thick for his balalaika. He needed it back when he lived in Minneapolis/St. Paul, and hasn't replaced it in all the decades since. {chuckle, SMILE}

What kinds of instruments do you have/play? {curious smile}

They were! At least, they look like it. Yep, I can understand why your dad did that.

I played violin (poorly) in the school orchestra, and learned to play guitar. Later, I learned fiddle tunes. I have a guitar, and 4 violins. I also have (but haven't learned to play yet) a mandolin, cheap banjo, and banjo-ukelele, plus a cheap plastic electric keyboard.

{Smile} Yeah. He felt it was the only way to ensure his balalaika didn't get damaged in the cold while he transferred it from a warm building to warm vehicle or vice versa. {Smile} Since Dad tends to be at least as serious about making and repairing instruments as playing them, he probably knows what he's talking about. {SMILE}

{blink} I'm impressed. That's not many fewer instruments as Dad has. Not that he's kept up most of them.... {SMILE}

Myself, I've pretty much stuck to transverse flute and tenor recorder... and I've forgotten the transverse flute. {chuckle, SMILE} Oh yes, and voice... which musicians tend to consider an instrument as well. {SMILE} Since I do take voice lessons, I think it should count, too. {BIG SMILE}

I totally can relate to the stuff issues. I'm seriously gonna have a garage sale this spring as I'm starting to feel a bit burried under all my stuff. It's a big part of why I don't really want to move again, but also, we have a small house and there simply isn't room for it all. Hope that moving in and getting sorted out all goes smoothly for you.

I'm ok with the Tut thing. With Christmas coming, Bruce is feeling squeezed over $$$ again anyway. We'll have to find something else to do sometime :-)

Thanks. Well, if you have a spring garage sale, that can help with the money! *G*
