I'm here in Toronto for the Gathering of the Fellowship. Got in about a couple of hours ago. I thought about trying to come later, because the cat that had surgery was... um... "blocked up", and hadn't had a bowel movement in 4 days - which can be serious. As it turns out, as soon as I left him at the vet's this morning, darn if he didn't deliver a little present in the carrier - *L*! So I raced around and made it here. Nice hotel, and the city looks cool. This is the "tall buildings" section, not the old section I stayed around when I was here for the LOTR museum exhibits. I hope I take the time to check out some of the city, rather than spend all my time at the convention, but we'll see! BTW - I got my card key and it didn't work, so I went down to the lobby to find... there's a glitch in the system and NOBODY'S card works - eeek! Long line of people. But I'd called earlier for somebody to come up, and when I gave up on the line, he was there to let me in, thankfully.
Merry and Pip are here with me. I really wanted to get my FOTR DVD signed by Craig Parker, because I didn't have him sign it before, but I put it into storage because of the move! Instead, I think I'll get photos of Craig and Bruce with the boys - I never did that either! Haven't run into Tig yet, but she's staying with some friends tonight and tomorrow night, and then sharing a room with me Sunday and Monday nights. Unfortunately, I also put my RenFair hobbit outfit into storage (which surprises me, because I remember putting it aside when I moved!). So, I think I'll just wear comfortable clothes and focus on photos of Craig and Bruce at a panel tomorrow, Mithrandir's Picnic Saturday night (with fireworks! It's Canada Day!), catch the musical of "Lord of the Rings" on stage Sunday, and do more photos of Craig and Bruce on Monday, ending up with the big banquet. Hope they'll let me in in my casual clothes! Because I also forgot the nice outfit I was going to bring to wear since I didn't have a hobbit dress.
Anyway, I'm tired, and I'm gonna go sleep! I do have my laptop here, and internet access, so you might see me around off and on this weekend. Just pray they get the card keys straightened out...!
p.s. You know, the World Cup is being played in Germany... and England is in the quarterfinals... and who do we know who loves football AND is from England AND grew up in Germany? And we haven't heard of lately? I wonder where he might be right now... *G*!!!
