The Internet is Back! And I'm Still Alive! (And my house is in one piece - whew!)
I've been incommunicado for the last 18 hours, so I haven't been able to tell you about the excitement we had here yesterday.

A hail storm. A BIG hail storm with golfball size hail coming down like they were shot from gun barrels. Think that's not impressive? Wait until I get a chance to post my home movie - whew!

So the funny/sad thing is... I had just finished doing my spring yard work: spread good lawn soil across the back yard, seeded it, and spread straw over it, started watering it, used Scotts plus 2 (fertilizer + weedkiller) on my existing lawn, put roundup on weeds in my flower beds, and had beautiful pansies planted and flowering, my perennials (hostas, bleeding hearts, ferns) poking their heads up in my flower beds... *sigh* I even took photos!!! (thankfully!) I was so in love with my house and sad I was leaving it.

And then the hail fell. You would NOT believe the sound of it on the roof; I thought it would fall apart! So, there I am, at about 6 or 7 pm, taking THE SAME PHOTOS of the "after". I could have cried. *sigh* But... no major damage. And, funny enough, I had just made an appointment to get some old dents fixed and a cracked windshield fixed, and good thing - because now the shops will be flooded with hail-dented cars!!! Mine was in the garage, thankfully. No major tree limbs fell, but most of my new plants were shredded and my lawn and sidewalks are covered with the little new leaves and buds and such that were coming out on the maples.

Pics to follow - *G*. And think good thoughts for anybody NOT as lucky who may have had severe damage!

Oh, and, of course the cable and internet were down the whole time - talk about feeling isolated! Luckily one local channel somehow broadcast (very staticy) on the Weather Channel slot, so I could see what was going on, because that storm was just one of two or three that travelled down the same line. So I ended up taking my "irreplaceables" down in the basement and reading "Reverse of the Medal" until the danger seemed to pass.

Sounds awful! And your poor little flowers... I hate it when all the hard work is for nothing because of the weather. But you are lucky that nothing bad happened to your car or your house. I have a few dents in my car from the last hail storm - nothing too bad. But my neighbours car was completely damaged.

Abosolutely. I thought my back door neighbor was fine, because the 2 cars I knew he had were in their garage... but I didn't know he had 2 more in front (and nowhere to put them). Both had their windshields smashed.

O.O whoa.

... I don't know whether there is that much more to say, just... whoa.

>.> yes, your description reminded me of the coconuts at the end of FSotW

I'd love to see some pictures of that.

And such a striking contrast with what we're having here. All sun and gentle spring rains.

*mourns your poor flowers*

;) At least you got some reading done.

Lala, I posted a couple of icons with Bonden on my LJ. (Well, two, but I like the last one.)

*LOL*!!!! NOT THE GOAT!!!!! GOD, NOT THE GOAT! *L*!!!!

And... GMTA...! I was thinking of an animated icon, with the Surprises looking down at the surgery (Bonden in the middle), then going to the girl with the umbrella. It would appear they were looking down at her with great interest... and then the line. *G*

I only see ONE Bonden icon... and you can hardly SEE him!

LOVE the "most bad-ass moment in movie history" - WHOOOOOOT!

Hey! There's two! He's perfectly clear and in front in the last picture, you, the one with Joe Plaice! (Seriously, though, I have NO inspiration for Bonden icons. I've tried. Suggestions would be very welcome.)

I wish I could make animated icons! I'd love to do one like that!

Ack, my internet is still acting up. About the LJ-cut button, you need to first select what you want to put behind the cut. I learned that after about fifty tries. You first select it, hit the button, type whatever you want as a title for the cut and the whole thing should appear in a grey window.

Ah.... but it's hard to "select" the photos, you know? Thanks, though, and I hope the pics show up for you.

Yes - *G*. And, perhaps because your life wasn't threatened, the results are that much more annoying, ironically enough!

And they're predicting more possible hail storms... so should I even clean up now, I wonder!

It was wild here again last night too. We got hail, but it didn't get past nickel-sized, so only the flowering trees got whacked here. My flowering cherry is flowering no more! I'm sorry to hear about all your tender little plants. :( I watched the radar and saw it all going south of us and thought of you.

Oh, too bad!!! I know - I hate it when it hits right when they're flowering. Glad it didn't get worse for you. I was wondering how you were doing, too.

We used to get hail all the time - because I'm so close to the lake, we get the weird weather. lately, though, there's been hail, but not the huge stuff.

When I was in line for 30STM in Milwaukee, we had the weirdest snow - it was like tiny hailstones. Actually, what it was most like - as the kids in front of me in line put it - was someone standing on the roof throwing pretzel salt on us.

Only, of course, it eventually melted on our heads and we got wet
