Billy's ideal slate of projects - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Billy's ideal slate of projects|
Was re-reading that "Glasgow by Night" article about Billy, and got so excited about the other parts that I missed this, the answer to a question I've always wanted to ask Billy, which is - what would your ideal career be?:
"In an ideal world I'd want to play someone like Hamlet for the National Theatre of Scotland then hit the big screen in an American comedy before heading home to film a Scottish independent."
Here's wishing him just such a career... and a ticket for me to see him when he does "Hamlet". *S*
*L*! I'll MAKE you go through Chicago! *G* Yes, I do pity Billy a bit... what if he does Hamlet and the house is full of giggling fangirls - *meep!* No, that won't happen. But my favorite play with my favorite actor? A dream come true!
I kept thinking of two things when I read that: first, how he had once been in talks with Citizens Theatre about doing Hamlet, and, second, that article about the opening of the Scottish National Theatre, and how the expected route (rather than doing this big HOME production) would have been to have Ewan MacGregor in a production of Hamlet as the opening performance. *G* So, I think the stage is set for Billy as Hamlet for the SNT. *crosses fingers*
bless him .. he really is a homebody! - Always Scotland - *tempts him down the motorway to the West End*
*tempts you up the motorway to Glasgow or Edinburgh*
Naaaah... that only works with CoRo, doesn't it? *G*
I was reading the other day that Alan Cumming also wants to play Hamlet :D They should both be in a play together, that would be fun :D
Sorry, Alan... Billy gets to go first! *G* He can be... Horatio!
I hope for him he can make this wish true :)
But hey! Also let a place free for me in the theater! :D hehe
HAMLET MOOT 20__
*LOL*!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *L*!!!!!
Good article and good job news for you :) I'm closer to Chicago than I was to Indy so perhaps we can get together some time :) I'm wanting to come up for the King Tut exhibition, maybe we can get together for that.
The Friday night jams sound great - and you should get back into fiddling, you're good :)
I just loved that once again Billy is desribed as such a down to earth lad. Gotta love the man!!!
Oh, that's right - King Tut! Are tix available yet?
Cool - hopefully we'll get together in Chicago!
The Tut exhibit runs from May 26, 2006 - January 1, 2007. Tix that include your Gen. Museum Admission cost $31.00 and can be purchased now. Like the LOTR exhibit, you buy for a certain date and time. According to the museum site, they have already sold 125,000 tix :-O
I'll let you do the deciding when we should do this as you have the move and settling into a new job etc. to contend with. I'm a homemaker type so if your job is such that a week day is available, that would work for me as well as a weekend would. Other than plans for a bluegrass festival and jam camp May 31st - June 6th and a Sci-Fi Con that Billy is confirmed for by bb.net that is Sept. 1 - 3, I'm available. :) Or as Mr. Humphries would say, "I'm free!"
God, I'm so old... I went to the "first" Tut exhibit, back in the '70's. I think it was one of the first "super" exhibits; lines went all around the museum and you could barely see anything due to the crowds.
Bluegrass festival? Great! Hmmm... is that the Minnesota festival or the Toronto one for Billy?
Keep bugging me, especially after May 8 (when I start); it'll be crazy until then.
Bluegrass festival is the "Bluegrass and More" festival in Morehead, KY. We are going to a Pete Wernick Jam Camp Wednesday May 31st through Friday June 2nd and the festival proper runs Saturday through Monday. Then we have a couple of days vacation left for driving home.
The Sci-Fi con is in Minneapolis Sept. 1 - 3. http://www.con-spiracy.org/index.html
Billy is scheduled for Sept. 2nd because he is at the one in Toronto on the 1st. (busy man!!) I've posted at P-L, Billy Boyd Place and at Welcome to Middle-earth that I'm going to the Minnespolis one, but so far no one else has posted to say they are going - so much for everyone grumping that he needed to come to the midwest :/ LOL Hopefully that'll change over the weekend.
I'll do my best to keep bugging you :D
Wow, didn't realize that the cons were the same week! *L*! - yep, you're right about the grumping, although Minneapolis IS pretty far north IN the Midwest. I think most people meant Chicago or someplace else more central!
