Whew!!!! - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Well, folks - whereas last year I tried to be "Your Girl at ORC", and do summaries, photos, etc., I'm not going to try to do that this year. I intended to do so, at least with the photos, but there are already so many great photos out there, that I'm not going to drive myself crazy getting them out there fast. And as to writing things up? Well, somebody was saying how tough it was reading the accounts and how envious they were; can I just say that I get envious reading those accounts, too?!!! *L*! Seriously - I either find out things I missed even though I was there, or I was there, but it now sounds like a positively epic life-changing experience compared to what I remember - *LOL*!!! So take everything with a grain of salt.
I got back home at about 7 pm and have just been reading and replying to emails/comments and chilling out since then. TOJ (The One Jacket) is on a hanger resting on a doorknob in the room so I can see it (*S*). I'm going to try to go to sleep now, and get back on track with my time zone, and start on editing photos tomorrow, and I'll probably post a few things I remember when I do. But if anybody has any questions, just ask! The best thing, this time, was really seeing other fans and recognizing them, which made it so much more enjoyable than the last time. The other things were: Daniel Reeves (calligrapher) and John Noble's appearances being so much more interesting than I thought they would be; Sean being in a happy mood this time (and with no hat and no glasses - yay!); Elijah seeming truly grown up; the brunch with Billy; Billy just taking it easy on stage and saying things off the top of his head; Miranda being so elegant; and the WWS concert with the fellow fangirls, and just knowing that Billy, Dom, and Elijah were there all together - *S*.
And here's a photo of Billy in the jacket - one of the first ones I ever took of him - and that's why I love it so much: it reminds me of starting this whole "photographing at cons" hobby, and of the first time I got to see him in person. *S*
p.s. And realize that that's how beat up the jacket looked THREE YEARS AGO! You can just imagine what it looks like now...!
You took that picture!!!!!
This is just too meant to be!! I am bubbling over happy for you, truly.
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. Take your time and enjoy not feeling rushed.
*so very happy for you*
PEARL! I'm feeling like such an idiot. Was it you who did the calligraphy of Billy's song for him? I saw they had photo prints of it for the auction, and I think they did very well! They are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!
Hey Ros, it was great to meet you and share squee! I'm now flailing cos I lost the card you gave me, and I don't have your email address to ask for the wonderful pics you took. Neither did I say goodbye to you last night (I think it was all too much!) for which I'm sorry. Hope to see you again sometime!
Thong woman!!!!! *L*! Don't worry; I'll be posting the pics up here as soon as I've had the chance to pick the best ones. But, I'll be honest - there are plenty of good ones out there! Thanks - it was so nice to see you, too!
Thank you for entrusting me to hold the jacket, but you know, I never got to wear it! That must be remedied
*S* And YOU can fit in it!!!! Darn, I didn't realize that. Come on down sometime!!!
p.p.s. For some good, brief con-notes, see my roommate's LJ: quiet_moments
; thankfully, she regularly got onto the computer downstairs and updated!

from DaVette and question
Hi there - I already emailed you, but just wanted to say again how cool it was to meet you and to thank you for letting me do the supermodel thing with TOJ.
Also, did I read this right? Billy, et al were at the WWS concert after ORC??? I knew I should have hung out. I didn't know about the concert (not being plugged in really - this is all kind of new to me still), but there was this buzz in the air and one of the Creation guys kept trying to get me to stay around. But still, I needed to get back home to hubby. But dang, I can't believe I missed them. Did you actually see them there?

Re: from DaVette and question
I got your email - it was so sweet!!!! Sorry, haven't written back yet, but thank you so much.
I know what you mean - it usually takes meeting people a few times to know enough people to be "in the loop". It's not a clique thing, just the way things get around. This is the first time I was "in the loop" - *G*.
Anyway, you didn't miss meeting Billy or anything. The only way to see anything was to stand on a chair - Dom was way in back in a corner, Elijah was in front at the stage edge, so you only saw the top of his head. Billy came through the group during a song and went over by Dom. And they left pretty much immediately after the concert (I heard they were off to get dinner). But it was great knowing they all still get together, isn't it?
The band was good! But it was only a little more than half an hour long.
I don't blame you ... you know I NEVER wrote up GenCon in the end?! oops But I want you to tell me lots of anecdotes in person :D!
*L*! You never did? *G* Thank heavens some people do write things up!
Haha! Remember you sent that picture in hi-res big pretty glossy version to Jules before me and her went to C3? That's the picture I got autographed and the one time I met Billy Boyd.
^_^ So yep, thought of that immediately. That jacket's always been linked to your pictures in my imagination so it's kind of appropriate now that you should get it.
(Am I the only one who isn't overly jealous about ORC? I just squee, but I'm not jealous. It's this "Ah, my boys together again. God's in his heaven and all's right with the world" sort of thing.)
Eeeeee!!!! I remember that!
And, yes - glad that's how you're feeling - *S*. Kind of the same way I felt at the WWS concert. Knew it wouldn't be right to bug the guys; just got a quick glimpse of each and thought "yay - they DO still get together! squee!" and enjoyed the concert. *sigh* Our boys. I love them. *S*
I still can't believe you got that jacket, Ros!!! This is soooo cool! (and he is soooo adorable!)
So glad to hear you made it back with TEH JACKET in one piece. I have a quick question for you. Did you happen to get any pictures of the winter-themed Narnia map that Daniel Reeve brought? There's only the one fuzzy picture of that out there, and I know a few Narnia fans who are dying for a better look at it.
*sighs at your picture of Billy*
Darn, no... Did you check out Lilith's pics, or the pics at a place called genre.com?
I'm so happy that you got that jacket! *high fives*
*high fives back!* Thanks!
Thank you soooooooooooo much for letting us all try it on
and smell it You made my day!
You're very welcome! It was good to meet the face behind the icon - *G*.

What a great pic! Just popping by to offer my Congratulations. Squee! What a Classic!Billy memento. I can hardly believe he parted with it. If only that jacket could talk, oh the colorful stories I bet it could tell. *g* Did Billy ever find out that it was you who won it?
Oooo! An icon with the other jacket in it! Hey - he wore that one to the WWS concert. I saw him briefly as he went by - *S*. I can't believe it parted with it either! No, he didn't find out. They announced and gave out the auction items while he was still going around the tables, and then everybody wanted to try it on and get their photos taken, and in the middle of that, he left. And it felt too much like asking for a pat on the back to go up with it to the autograph table... only to find out that I think others who bid and won things did. I'm just terribly shy about that kind of thing. But, yes, what a Classic!Billy memento - *L*! Well-said, and thank you!
Ahhhh Ros :) I am so so so so happy for you that you got Billy's jacket! So fitting that it should be you!
Of course I don't care what anyone else says I wanna hear all about YOUR con experiences in great detail;) Must I come over there and scare you to do it;)
Glad you had an excellent time, and glad you got the chance to experience John Noble, he's a card isn't he?
hey...did I say SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :D
Well, I'll get around to it, if I remember anything to write - *L*!
Thanks so much - and, yes, I didn't expect John Noble to be so gracious and fun and sweet!
*hears the squeeing across the ocean* *L*!!!!!! *G* Thank you SO much!
I'm so, so happy for you! The jacket is such a special thing for you to have. I will certainly treasure my photograph with it. :)
It was really great to see you at the convention too. ♥
And you! I was so happy that Billy recognized you. And I hope you do get to see him do the bit for the National Theatre!
I'm going through my comments backwards, so please ignore this if you've already explained it, but - what exactly IS a National Theatre (vs. other theaters)? And was Billy part of the push for one?
Congratulations, again, on winning the jacket! If I had to lose, I'm happy that it was to you, as someone who will truly appreciate it and give it an excellent home. Thank you so much for letting me fondle it during Billy's panel!
Thank you, also, for chatting with me about photography and for asking people in front of us to move in such a way that we could get better shots. I do hope that I didn't interfere too much with your picture-taking. It was wonderful to meet you, and a privilege to sit next to you. I hope that we shall meet again!
Can I just say how gracious you were, and are? Thank you so very much. And it was so great to meet somebody whose stories I admire!
Interfere with me? I'm the one who should be apologizing to you. I get terribly single-minded during photography. I try to be respectful, but I don't always notice if I'm not. I'm glad you found you were able to get shots, though. *L*! Hope Billy didn't think I was too bizarre by slumping down in the seat the whole time to let folks shoot over me.
It was great meeting you! *S*
