Hullo! and ORC - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Hullo! and ORC|
Okay - can I everybody that I will see at ORC please raise your hand? *S* Also, let me know how and where I'll get to see you, such as if there are any get-togethers planned. I'll be at the Sheraton, and quiet_moments
will be my roommate. I'll be in C-21. I'll be arriving Friday morning (noon?), and leaving Monday morning.
I missed it on the Golden Globes, but I hear that Hugh Laurie won in his category - yay!
Any Dom sightings? ETA: Golden Globes spoiler:
LOST WON!!!! WHOOOOOOOT!!!!! And Dom was on-stage - yay!!!!
I was out of town this weekend, at a surprise 75th (!) birthday party for my Dad. He was very surprised - and I was very happy to see it! *G*
My last day of work last Friday went well. Everybody was very kind, with many "You'r a great person to work with" comments, as well as a few "I wish I could leave, too" - *L*!
Today, I slept late and am a little out of it, but am getting into a schedule tomorrow and getting ready for ORC.
Thank you!!!! 847-363-6940 here.

Dang! Wish I could be there, if only to see you and Rakshi and bunches of other folks (. . . like a hobbit or two . . . ) Have a fantastic time!
As for the job, remember the old addage: for every door that closes, another (better) one opens.
Yep! Thanks - wish you could be there, too!

Have a great time, Ros! And if you meet Rakshi give her a big hug from me ;)
I wish I could be there too.
I will and I'm sure she'd love it!
Wish you were, too.
Hey - in case I decide to stay an extra day and hang around LA, where was the place you stayed? And wasn't it near some really good movie theatre and Amoeba records? Do you remember any info? Or good tours to take? Thanks!
|Date:||January 17th, 2006 07:34 pm (UTC)|| |
I stayed at the Hollywood Hills Hotel. That's at Franklin Avenue and a 15 minutes walk from Sunset Boulevard (2 Blocks). The hotel is very close to the Capitol Record Building and Vine Street. If you walk down Vine Street you can't miss Amoeba (take care of your credit-card ;) ) and THE BEST MOVIE THEATER EVER the ArcLight and the Dome.
Here is a link to the Hotelhttp://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=05204#null
Thank you so so much! And a map, too (in your second comment)!!! Thank you! *S*

Yay glad the party went well, and the last day - and now time to partay hearty wiv da Hobbitses!
Have too much fun!
hee I heard Hugh's acceptance on the radio this morning he was funny... and sounded terribly terribly posh. lol.
But - was it just me, or did he sound a bit Americanized? Not quite as British as he used to? And the poshness was all tongue-in-cheek. If you'd like to see a clip (and it's lovely!), go over to indeedsir
Sounded more Brit to me! - He doesn't really talk like Bertie remember! heee *L* .. thanks for the link I will indeed go later!
*L*! You know, that might be it... I might have been expecting a Bertie accent! *blushes*
Awww, can't go this year, but I'll be thinking of all of you. Hug our hobbitses for us. :(
*L*! I'd sure like to! If I'm brave enough, I'll hug Billy. *G*
I can't wait to see all of your pictures! Take many of the lovely Miranda for me :-) :-) :-)
I certainly hope to!!! *S* I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for better stage lighting this year. *G*
Woohoooo! *does not raise hand but points to very greenish-looking eyes* I hope to see lots and lots of pics when you get back!!! Have a wonderful trip!
Get good well earned sleeping ins! Have a wonderful time at ORC! Wish I were going, but there will be other cons.
Your icon, though - eeeeek!!!! *hides eyes* *L*!
*sits on handses*
You have the bestest of time babe, though am sure you will, after all brunch with Billy;)
Glad you had a nice weekend with your Dad, sounds lovely :D (piccies?)
Schedule....YOU? Shocker ;)
:P!!! Perhaps I should put it in quotes: "schedule"? *G*
Piccies? Still working on the Christmas backlog, now that I have time.
Bit nervous about ORC; perhaps I need some coaching from a Con regular? (actually, you're so good at Cons, can I call you a Con Artist? *G*) Being an introvert, and tending to think that other people will feel the way I would feel, I tend to feel embarrassed when I go up for an autograph. I mean, the guests are paid well and all, but I still feel like I'm taking up their time, I'm the hundredth person in line, what could I possibly say, and so on. So, what do you (and pooh, if she's reading this) tend to think/do/get in the frame of mind for when you do this? You and pooh seem to always bring out the best in the people you meet for autographs. Do you try to be bouncy? flirty? sincere? other? Hope this question makes sense - *L*!
I'll let you off, and I know you won't show us until you are completely happy with them too :D
Awwww don't be nervous. You've been to tons of cons too, and you seem to do just fine!
Just remember they are being paid well, and YOU are the one that has helped to pay for them to be there, a few seconds of their time is all you want in return it isn't too much to ask for IMO.
As to what I do to prepare, um....nothing. I think Jules and I are similar in that we are so squeeful by that point that things just happen. Unless I have a particular question I wanna ask, but I tend to save that for the Q&A's these days. I just say hi, how's things and go with the flow.
caffeine and chocolate always makes me hyper too
*takes notes* Drink lots of soda and eat chocolate... save questions... be squeeful... got it! *L*! Thanks!
hahahah you know I am sure there are much more polished ways of doing it all, but I have fun and enjoy the meetings I have, and don't scare them too much :)
And that's what I'm looking for!
Of course, if I take your advice, I might become manically squeeful and scare them - *L*!
You'll be great, I mean you aren't gonna go from one extreme to the other overnight. And anyway you are way too respectful to ever scare them!
