Nickel Creek - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Okay, a very important question here:
Who on my f-list is both:
A) A raving fan of Nickel Creek, and
B) Able to be in Indy this Sunday night?
Graewolf - does that happen to apply to you, or Edie, or both? Anybody else?
Well, while I am a fan of Nickel Creek (helps that my Dad has played mandolin with Chris Thile before), I unfortunately will not be in Indy this weekend. :( I saw them when I was much littler, though, and they were really good.
Really? Your dad has?!?!?! How good is your dad?
Darn... and you couldn't have been MUCH littler.... *G*.
My Dad's pretty good I guess... he jammed with him at a Mando convention years ago, so he hasn't performed with him, but yeah, he was really impressed.
And for real, that boy started out young! When I saw them I was probably 13 or 14, which seems like ages ago.
I have never listened to Nickle Creek.
Guess that's a no, then - *G*!
I love Nickel Creek! I have their Smoothie Song on my .mp3 player on heavy rotation. :) They are going to be there on Sunday? I'm going to be in Indy on Saturday for the day. Grrrr....what's the scoop?
*thinksthinksthinks* Sure you can't be there Sunday night? For a free concert? And a meet-the-band? *G*
I confess -- oh the shame -- I don't know who they are! I've heard of Nickelback, but not Nickel Creek. I can ask Edie when we talk later tonight and let you know....
*L*! I doubt this would apply to you, then... they're bluegrass, not hard rock! *G*
Hey *pouts* I like hard rock and bluegrass :P
Silly.... that was for Graewolf! She said she'd heard of Nickelback (which is a hard rock group, right?) but not Nickel Creek. *G*
I know that :) I was just saying it is possible to like both! Although *cough* I wouldn't call Nickelback a hard rock group really;)
It's funny... I know their name, but I don't know anything about Nickelback!
Their biggest hit was How you remind me....
And apparently... it doesn't remind me of them... *ggl* But thanks!
Edie used to be a metalhead, and is into Melissa Etheridge now (both have beat cancer)...As for me, I'm reliving the 60's & 70's -- Beatles, Elton, Woodstock... with some recent ambient thrown in (like Moby's more ethereal stuff), and I'm eager for Bo Bice's first CD.
I went to Amazon though and listened to some Nickel Creek, and liked it.... rather like early Eagles meets the Chieftains. Good stuff. If everyone is going to go Sunday night, we'd be crazy not to go, too.
Well, it's not everybody. *G* What happened is that I won two (I think) tickets to Nickel Creek, including a meet and greet. And it'll probably be just you two staying over Sunday night - which is fine with me! But... it means I may be a very bad hostess and sneak away for the concert. We'll see.
I think I can speak for both of us - that we would not mind! You deserve to do something like that after all the work you're going through to have several houseguests. Enjoy!
I JUST GOT BACK FROM THEIR CONCERT HERE, AUNTIE ROS!!!!!
But omg I would so love to go to another one. They are so sweet and so damn talented, it blows me away!
SQUEEEE!!! And I thought of you immediately, of course, but you're faaaaar away... and it's a Sunday. *pouts*
Raving, but can't be there.
