Catching up...!
I had a talk to give this week, and then a lot of this and that, so I haven't been posting much, which means - I'm behind! It's a little long, so I'll put this behind a cut.

Last weekend I went up to a suburb of Chicago for a wedding. It was very nice, with a beautiful day and a good-looking couple, and the bride is somebody I used to work with and go to plays, movies with, and who is one of the few from my old company who work at the company I'm at now.

Of more interest to you folks is that ninquelosse was kind enough to offer to let me stay with her, which was very convenient, since she lives in the very suburb I was going to. I had a funny time trying to find her house, which she said was further back off the street than the other houses on the block. Well, it's actually so far back that it looks like it's on the row of house behind - *L*! She and Boo were up, and SB was already asleep, so we sat at the kitchen table and talked quietly for a while. I got to see the holy of holies - Ninq's new iMac notebook - *G* - and saw the fuzzy iPod protector she made for Boo - *L*! It looks like a little square made of rabbit fur! Their place is full of cool stuff - books, music, posters - that I wish I could have looked at, but I was beat, and had to get up at about 6:30 am, so we went to bed. Thank you so much for letting me stay, Ninq, and it was wonderful to see your place.

I've been watching lots of movies this week. I saw "Serenity" and "40-Year-Old Virgin" in the theatres (first one, great, second one, very funny in parts, but a bit uneven - but it had Paul Rudnick! yay! *G*). I watched "Kama Sutra" (which I'd seen before), which has Naveen Andrews in it. I highly recommend it - very poignant and beautiful, and a whole different world. Also very sexy, of course. And "Blade: Trinity", which was very stylish (excellent credits) and very good in parts, but the story... didn't make sense at all. And too many long fight sequences that all start to look the same after a while, and an ending that was... baffling.

Interesting cameos, BTW? Loudon Wainwright as the minister at the end of "40-Year-Old Virgin", and the vampire progenitor in "Blade: Trinity" is the same actor that plays the tough older brother in prison in "Prison Break".

So, this weekend I go to see the Exhibit. It opened up Wednesday at midnight, and I'm going to hang out with the TORn Yahoo group that has organized an IndyMoot. There's a Ghost Walk tonight, the Exhibit at 9 am tomorrow, and a dinner Saturday night. And Anne from Chicago (who I met at the last Line Party for ROTK) will be there - yay! I found that out just recently. She'll be the only one I know there, so thank god she's coming - *L*!

And my talk went well, which is good. Work is still... eerie... in that I have no idea what they're planning on doing with me, or what they think of me. So, I've decided not to care! Because there's not a damn thing I can do. About all I could do at this point is make allies, and I don't see any to make, so...!

That's it for me; catch you on the flipside! And here's hoping pooh had a MARVELOUS CoRo weekend (SO JEALOUS!), that lorna keeps having fun in NY (SPAMALOT! SOOOO JEALOUS!!!), that Cat enjoys finally meeting Billy (SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!) - sensing a theme here? *G* - and everybody has a great weekend.

Ninq's house is awesome. I was over there when her rasberries were in bloom (if you use the term "in bloom" when referring to berries, really). Loved looking at the piccies (yay for baby SB and wedding photos). I didn't even know you were here... how sad. I worked all weekend, anyway, though.
Can't wait till INDY!
PS - I think Morgan and I may get there early afternoon on Sat now instead of Friday night... we figured that if we left when I got off work we'd get stuck in horrbile rush hour.

Ooo, rush hour, I know! And I'd strongly advise using the Skyway. That stretch of 94 just before you hit 65 is murder; it's always backed up. I used the Skyway coming and going and had no trouble at all!

What time would you be getting off work, though? Because it's only about 3 1/2 hours to my place. Especially with the 70 mph on 65. *G* If you waited until 7 pm, you could bounce in at 10 pm and have a nice relaxing morning. There are some thrift stores in Broad Ripple, and an excellent CD store. Or, even if you left in the morning at 8 am, you'd get here by noon, no problem. Unless there's the time change already, in which case you'd be here at 1 pm. *L*! I always forget that!

I literally got to the wedding just as it started, went from the reception to Ninq's at about 10 or 11 pm, got up at 6:30 am and went out to a prairie, then raced home, so there was no chance to stop and say hi - sorry.

Thank you!
Some of my poor roses bit the dust this summer - we had such a dry winter and then the drought just kept on going... but the berries were OK!

I was going to say, ride with us, but it would be pretty squishy. And then I remembered you had a new car!

*G* A nasty character, of course, but good for seeing him play a very different type.

I've not actually seen Kama Sutra, but I remember a lot of people coming to buy it on video when I worked at HMV, because it was close to porn without actually buying porn (or so they thought).

And, in some ways, it is. *G* Softcore and very sensual. In the beginning, you hear a teacher telling her students that Kama Sutra means (if I remember correctly) the way of love. And that is what the movie is about. There's a princess and a serving girl who is her best friend. The princess is a bit of a snob, and gets jealous whenever the serving girl is admired more than she is. The serving girl is a bit envious of the princess, and tired of getting her hand-me-downs. Unfortunately, when the king (Naveen) comes to marry the princess in an arranged wedding, it is the servant girl who catches his eye. Thus runs the "way of love". *G*

The sexual part of it comes from the lovemaking you see, as well as the openness of the Indian culture to discussing and teaching such things. Early on, there are several classes of young women - full dressed - who, quite flexibly, practice the different positions, just as the princess and the serving girl, when they are quite young, have no compunctions about touching each other while swimming. There are also the erotic statues that are carved by the artist that the serving girl later meets. So it's a very different way of looking at sex than we see in the West. I recommend it.

Yay seeing Ros! And how could we not have you here, especially as you are having us all over in a few weeks? It was lovely to see you.

*hugs you and NinqFamily*
And speaking of jealousy, I have to admit this... my inner child is saying in a tiny voice... "But I thought *we* were the Indymoot in 2003?" Heehee. Nothing to worry about. :P
