Emmy Wins
Behind a cut, for spoilers, to be added on as the night continues:

I think I love David Shore, the writer of "Three Stories" for "House" - who just won, against both the Lost pilot and "Walkabout" from Lost. And deservedly so, I think. I've seen each of them more than once and "Three Stories" stands up better than the others. *S*

On the other hand, J.J. Abrams one for directing the "Lost" pilot - and that was well-deserved as well. Poor guy - he's definitely better behind the camera than in front of him. He was pretty nervous.

Best acceptance speech: the actress who one for "Lackawanna Blues" gets on stage, very nervous, and tells everybody that she had something written up, but she put it in her *points to her ample cleavage* and it fell down, and now she can't get it - *S*. She was such a sweetheart, and so honest!

My... lots of English accents tonight! I mean, Hugh, Geoffrey Rush (won for the Peter Sellers mini-series), and the (director?) of the pilot for "Desperate Housewives".

Craig Ferguson presented an award with Sophie Ward. When he said "Tonight we'll be dashing the hopes of four fine actors", Sophie says "Craig - that's rather harsh. Are you depressed?". Craig: "No, Scottish."

And now Charles S. Dutton is giving an award! Yep, the nasty Vogler of "House". And he's doing lead actor. But I already know Hugh didn't win (that's for you green ghost - *G*). JAMES SPADER???? Damn - he wasn't even a front runner! And the most applause went to Ian McShane (followed by the applause for Hugh). I demand a re-count! *pouts* Hey... maybe Vogler changed the results? *G* Ah, well, Spader's giving a good speech. Still. *sigh*

Hugh Jackman's presenting the award for Outstanding Drama Series with Whoopi, and one glance at his sideburns, and you know he must be shooting X-Men right now as Wolverine. Yay!!!! LOST won for best drama!!! Let's see... half the audience is now getting up to be onstage - *L*! No, I kid you not! Foxie, Naveen, Jorge, ... everybody! Dom's standing next to Foxie. Pull back camera, show us more.... nope, that's it. Let's hope for some good "after" pics!

I kept commenting that it's weird how much more eloquent the English-types are in their acceptance speeches. They just seem to me more gracious and they manage to convey that in a more colourful fashion.

Part of me has always thought it was their theater background... but that doesn't explain the non-actors - or the actors with no theater experience!

And, damn, but it really did feel at first like Hugh was "putting on" an accent when he was doing the presentation - *L*! Scary.

Yes, it did sound put on.... another in a long list of reasons he should've won tonight.
