Folks, it was so good at ORC that I'd be more than willing to see it AGAIN! To be honest, when I looked at the description before ORC, I thought "eh... maybe it will be okay" - but you have to see this to believe it. This guy can mimic every single person in LOTR, then condense all 3 movies into 1 hour, AND - add in just enough humor and poking at the story to make you absolutely lose it - *L*!!! And he THROWS himself into it - the poor guy must lose a gallon of water in the one hour.
PLUS - he does a spoof of STAR WARS! Apparently that's how he started this kind of a gig. Take it from somebody who saw it a week ago - tell all your friends to go see it, if you live around Chicago. They'll be kicking themselves later if they don't.
Here's the info: http://www.apollochicago.com/coming/index.html.
From the site:
"Lucasfilms loved the show so much they hired Charlie Ross to promote the new Star Wars movie coming out next spring."
"The One-Man Star Wars Trilogy Showtimes: Fri at 10:30PM and Sun at 6:00PM.
The One-Man Lord of the Rings Showtimes: Sat at 10:30PM and Mon at 7:00PM. Added shows: Fri, Feb 18 at 10:30PM, Sat, Feb 19 at 3:00PM and Sunday, Feb 20 at 6:00PM. Opens Sunday, Jan 23, 2005."
Grrrrr.. blast!!!! Saturday at 10:30 pm? *wails* He must be in a space used for another play during normal hours. I was going to suggest a Midwest Moot until I saw that. Makes it pretty difficult to see it. I would have suggested mooting on Feb. 19 at the 3 pm show, but I'll be in New York.
Still... *G* the rest of you can go!!!! Huh? What do you think? Elan and Boo - you'd love it... even SB would, as long as he could sit high enough to see! Kisa, definitely worth a drive down. As for the rest, definitely think about it! *S*
I'll eventually be posting my photos of him - if any come out! That guy moves sooooooo fast! *G* Maybe that will help make up your minds. *S*
AND - a really nice interview of Cliff Broadway and Carlena Cordova (spelling?) AT ORC about "Ringers" - check it out! http://www.iesb.net/movies2/lotforc.php
AND - to anybody complaining about ORC - *S* - here's a good opportunity to learn more about TORn and their involvement: http://www.iesb.net/movies2/christornint.php
God... love all the Star Wars comments... everybody in all the interviews is a Star Wars fan (or former fan) as well as an LOTR fan - and the predecessor to TORN was www.theforce.net!
