Flight of the Phoenix - and a Year of LOTR Actor Movies!
Yep, saw "Flight of the Phoenix" tonight, and it wasn't bad! Saw it for Hugh Laurie ("Bertie Wooster" of "Wooster and Jeeves" fame, for those who aren't aware), and Giovanni Ribisi (Lord, but he's SO creepy in this! and believably so! *applauds*) and, of course, Miranda Otto! Again, not great, but a good action movie, with an almost beautiful crash scene. Not enough Hugh, though - he plays the token "management type". I think he has an Australian accent, but not an overdone one. Nice job, Hugh. *G*.

So - a good time to do "The Year in LOTR Actor Movies"! I'd like to do a meme, where you can list the movies and bold the ones you've seen. But I don't know if I got all the movie - plus, I'm curious as to how many of the movies I watched this year were LOTR-related. So first I'm going to list all the movies I saw, and bold the ones that had LOTR actors. Again - did I miss any?

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World - Billy
Cold Mountain
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (do I really need to say? *G*)
50 First Dates - Sean Astin
Master and Commander - Billy
Mystic River
Hidalgo - Viggo
Secret Window (I guess Johnny Depp doesn't count? Funny... seems like he should!)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Elijah
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Elijah
13 Going on 30 - Andy
Kill Bill 2
Van Helsing - Daisy *G*
Raising Helen
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azhkaban (does stealing stuff from LOTR count? *G*)
Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azhkaban
Around the World in 80 Days
Shrek 2
The Bourne Supremacy - Karl
Spiderman 2 (seems like Elijah's "brother" Tobey should count, doesn't it? *G*)
Exorcist 4
Troy - Orlando, Sean Bean
I, Robot
Shaun of the Dead (but... but... it's English! Doesn't that count? *G*)
Garden State
Wimbledon - Bernard
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Team America
The Incredibles
I Heart Huckabees
Seed of Chucky - Billy
Finding Neverland
Seed of Chucky - Billy
Meet the Fockers
Flight of the Phoenix - Miranda (okay, so this was 2005 - but, hey!)

Darn - only 15 out of 38 had LOTR actors in them. I thought it'd be closer to 50%.

So - what did I miss? And were there some of these that had LOTR actors in it, but I missed them?

Ooops! Looks like I missed The Princess Diaries 2, with JRD (saw a bit of it at Xmas, though, on DVD). And I plan to see National Treasure tomorrow (with Sean Bean). Also missed Jersey Girl, with Liv Tyler, and The Chronicles of Riddick, with Karl Urban. But there are some movies even an LOTR actor can't make me drag myself to. *G*

And... what happened to the following movies that were supposed to be released in 2004???

Elvis Has Left the Building (Sean Astin plus a whole helluva lotta Elvises - *G*)
Smile (Sean Astin)
Spivs (Dominic Monaghan)
Haven (Orlando Bloom)
The Calcium Kid (Orlando Bloom)

But - eep! - did you know Miranda Otto's going to be in War of the Worlds????

Hey. I bought Chronicles of Riddick. You should support gamer geeks (Vin Diesel) and LOTR actors (Karl). It's not that bad really, a typically sci-fi gamer romp. I liked it.

As for Orli stuff, Calcium Kid probably will never be released over here, I'm hoping for it on DVD but not holding my breath. Haven only went to the Toronto film festival and apparently didn't pick up a distributor, so again, crossing my fingers that it comes out on DVD some time next year.

Also, Jersey girl was kind of cute. Affleck didn't want to make me throw up, that's a good thing. And Liv was adorable.

Also - to bold, do the following, but take out the spaces:

< b > Orlando Bloom < /b >

Thanks!!!! I'd used "bold" instead of "b" - that was my mistake! *G* I'll fix it now. (((((kisa))))))

I do hope the Orli flicks come out on DVD; it's so frustrating when an actor makes a movie and you don't even get a chance to judge it for yourself.

And maybe I'll give Jersey Girl a try. *G*

(had to re-do my comment to include another "movie" icon.... *G*)

O.O the majority from this list that I've seen were ones without LotR actors. GASP!

(and even if they did I didn't always know it. I saw Wimbledon for Paul.. and then squealed when THEODEN, KING! got on screen.)

Wasn't ALL I WANT - Elijah Wood also released in 2004?

I know it wasn't a made for theaters movie, but it was made for a movie cable channel and then later released on DVD. Plus wasn't it originally called something else when it aired on tv or filmed? They then changed the name when it was released on DVD?

Curious to find out.

Hmmmmm.... was it that late, or 2003? Good point. Originally it was "Try Seventeen". I'm thinking it was earlier, though, since I saw the DVD on sale this year.

Have you seen it? It's not bad! Although seeing Lij have a strange dream about straddling Blondie... that was odd. *L*! Frankie Potente and Mandy Moore were also in it.
