Could this be the worst movie you've never heard of? And Sean Bean is in it... - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
Could this be the worst movie you've never heard of? And Sean Bean is in it...|
Just heard, for the very first time, of a movie called "National Treasure", starring Nicolas Cage - and it has Sean Bean in it!
Now, get this - it starts November 19. And I've never heard of it before. No trailers. No ads. No buzz. Nothing.
Yet it stars Nicolas Cage, and is being touted as being made by the same folks who did "Pirates of the Caribbean". And it has a plot which sounds strangely like The DaVinci Code - a mysterious "treasure" that has been hidden through the centuries, and protected by a family.
Is it just me, or does this sound like it must be a VERY bad movie? I mean, why else would they have been so quiet about it *eep*! Here's a summary from imdb:
"Since childhood, Benjamin Franklin Gates has known that he is decended from a long line of people whose job is to guard a treasure hidden by the Founding Fathers, who hid clues to its whereabouts in the country's currency and on the back of the Declaration of Independence. Now, he has learned of a plot to steal the Declaration, and has only one option: steal it himself. Even if he pulls off this monumental task, keeping the treasure safe is still going to be incredibly hard, especially since the FBI has also gotten wind of the scheme."
Also - Nov. 15. "Seed of Chucky". Which, BTW, I've seen tons more ads for! *G*
I've been seeing commercials for "National Treasure" for the last few days and I was like "Whoa! Now what is THIS?". It looks interesting to me. And Sean is lookin' mighty fine, from what I can tell. The kids and I easily spotted him in the trailer. I hope it's not crap. But yeah....the odds are not good with so little buzz before hand. *sigh*
Go back on my journal a few posts, the one where I'm at work and bored and please post your favorite things? And read through the comments and introduce yourself to cleverkat
? You and she will have much music to discuss, and I've been berated for not introducing you sooner.
Okie dokie. Will do. And her name sounds familiar....
*L*!!! You so cool... awww.... that wasn't a berating! *G*
Ah... so maybe I've just been watching the wrong channels!
Yay for another hobbit - I mean LOTR actor! - movie! Lord, I've hardly seen a movie without one this year - including Wimbledon. Yay!
Yay for Bernard! I <3 Wimbledon.
Yeah, I'm sorry to say, it looks horribly bad. Poor, poor Sean.
I thought of DaVinci code as well. I only saw a commercial for it once. Oddly enough, I have yet to see any ads for SoC.
Have you heard if Billy is doing any promotion for it? *hopes and prays*
No... and I can't think that he would! Not that he's ashamed of it or anything, but he's not shown in it, so...
("SoC" - just looks like So. Cal. to me! *G* Hadn't seen anybody using an acronym for it yet!)

I do remember seeing a trailer during the summer. Can't remember exactly which movie it was played prior to seeing.
AOL did have a 10 min preview here on Monday. From that preview it looked "interesting". I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Sean Bean did look wonderful tho. *sigh* And he is playing the "baddie".
Really? Then maybe there's hope... (if there actually was a trailer, and AOL is pushing it)!
I've seen the trailers for National Treasure - the trailers didn't look all that bad. I think they were running before Van Helsing, and maybe The Village, 'cuz I know I saw it twice.
Lord, how did I miss it, then! I guess they change the trailers from week to week. I should do some more digging before assuming it's being swept under the rug out of embarassment, then...

I've seen the trailer a few times in our theatre - I thought it already started in the US ...
