Intended to see "Vanity Fair" tonight, but I had the time wrong and saw Zach Braff's "Garden State" instead. You probably know Zach Braff from "Scrubs", and he not only stars in this, but wrote and directed it as well. He's very good, as is Natalie Portman, and so is Peter Sarsgaard, who plays the former classmate who now works as a gravedigger. Good movie about life, and living it, with tweaks at New Jersey and life in general.
Of course, everything in life relates back to LOTR, and this movie is no exception: Ian Holm plays Zach Braff's father. *S* And I felt like I was flashing back to GenCon when a character appears who works at Medieval Nights as a knight - and speaks Klingon. *L*! Speaking of which, as my mind wanders, I caught most of "Daddy Daycare", and enjoyed seeing Steve Zahn again (remember him as the lead in "Chain of Fools"?). He plays a sweet Trekkie who, amongst other things, realizes that the strange incomprehensible language one of the kids speaks is - yes - Klingon. *groans* Funniest geeky bit, though, is when he starts arguing with a little kid who insists on always wearing a Flash outfit. When he asks the kid who he's fighting against, the kid starts saying "Riddler? Joker?" etc. as Steve shakes his head and then tells him the correct villains for the Flash - *L*!.
Okay, it's late and I'm being silly. Goodnight!
p.s. I need some "WTF?" photos for an icon - you know pics of people looking disbelieving, or surprised, or shocked - preferably hobbit actors, of course. *G* If you've got any, I'd love to see 'em! *S* Thanks.
