Lovely Screencaps - including Eowyn as Dernhelm
Beizy's done some lovely screencaps of ROTK - including, Tig, some wonderful screencaps of Eowyn as Dernhelm! http://www.livejournal.com/users/beizy/428591.html?view=10375215#t10375215

*ggl* I'm watching the DVD's of Jeeves and Wooster, and such a slash incident... *G*. Wooster is singing "47 Ginger-Headed Sailors", and comments that it's all the rage at the Drones club... to which Jeeves replies "I'm not surprised, sir". Lord, lord, lord... *L*!

Permission granted!

And drones are the "male" bees that are actually asexual, aren't they? As well as not working... *L*!

Yup.

And while we're at it, Ganymede was the cup-bearer to the gods...not to mention basically a synonym for homosexuality throughout much of Western history. Especially effeminant homosexuality.

Social satire AND weird sexuality, in both club names! Who could ask for more?

*G* Yes, is was an earlier comment of yours about the Ganymede club that brought it to mind. It never occurred to me that it had another meaning, since "male cup bearer" seemed like an appropriate god to name a butlers club after. But just recently I read a passage in the Master and Commander books where a very handsome cupbearer to a sultan (who also happened to be the sultan's boytoy) was compared to Ganymede. *G*

Actually, that's the FIRST thing I thought of...the name really took me by surprise, and it was only a few days later that I realized that it was called that because of Ganymede's cupbearer duties *L* It's not my fault -- ancient authors hardly ever refer to Ganymede except when there's gay involved.

We get the word "catamite" from Ganymede's name.

Sure, sure... it's not your fault that your mind immediately goes to the gutter. *exaggerated sigh* It's all the ancient authors' fault! *ggl*

Hey, for once I'm not kidding -- the ancients were all about The Smut, and especially The Gay. If they want to talk about men loving beautiful boys, the first name they pull out is Ganymede ^^

So, what you're saying is... the ancient authors were pretty much like fangirls on LJ? *raised eyebrows*
