The stars are shining like rebel diamonds cut out of the sun...
From Conan O'Brien, quoted in Entertainment Weekly:
"Today in England, a new theme park opened that is devoted to the legendary author Charles Dickens. Experts say the Charles Dickens Theme Park is perfect for the family sick of spending every vacation at Jane Austen World."

Is there hope for a Royal Navy theme park, with a whole section devoted to the Surprise?!

Among the new shows coming out this summer (I kid you not - this is REAL! And remember - this is the band that Figwit is in):
"Flight of the Conchords" - Jue 17, 10:30 pm, HBO - "A Kiwi folk-comedy duo takes to the streets of New York's Lower East Side, desperate to score both gigs and chicks." (Damn! I don't get HBO! Is anybody taping this that can post it on the net?!)

And James McAvoy is going to be in a film with Keira Knightley called "Atonement". The film follows a young girl who accuses her sister's lover (JA) of a crime he did not commit.

And, finally, now that I've finished Julian May's multi-series books about humanity's evolution into people with psychic powers, I can't get this song list out of my head (a tribute to the five types of "metapsychic" powers):

"Can You Read My Mind?" by The Killers (for the power of far-sensing)
"I Can See for Miles" by The Who (for another aspect of the power of far-sensing)
"Under My Thumb" by The Rolling Stones (for the power of coercion)
"Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gay (for redaction - the power of healing)
"The Statue Got Me High" by They Might Be Giants (for shooting lasers out of one's eyes - the power of creativity - *G*)

But I can't come up with one for psychokinesis... and I could use a better one for creativity. Any suggestions?

Iiii'm up laaater than yooouuu...

Kuhal's Earthshaker, right? So... Trying to think of a creativity song but all that goes through my head is "Mercy, mercy, mercy me" (the Marvin Gaye version - SB likes the oldies station).

I'm up researching cellphone providers. USCC won't work properly out in AA. Foo.

:P!!!

Yep, Kuhal Earthshaker...

I was thinking R&B, too, for creativity and/or PK, but a different song: "Can't Get Next To You" (lyrics below - cool that the person writing it says WHICH of the Temptations is singing which part!).

Artist: The Temptations
Song: I Can't Get Next To You

I...
Dennis: Can turn a gray sky blue.
Melvin: I can make it rain, whenever I wanted to.
Oh, I...
Eddie: I can build a castle from a single grain of sand.
Paul: I can make a ship sail, uh, on dry land.

Dennis: But my life is incomplete and I'm so blue.
'Cause I can't get next to you.

I can't get next to you, babe. (Next to you)
I can't get next to you. (I just can't get next you)
I can't get next to you, babe.
I can't get next to you.

I...
Dennis: Can fly like a bird in the sky.
Eddie: Hey, and I can buy anything that money can buy.
Oh, I...
Paul: I can turn a river into a raging fire.
Melvin: I can live forever if I so desired.

Eddie: Unimportant are all the things I can do. 'Cause I can't get next to you.

I can't get next to you, babe. (No matter what I do)
I can't get next to you.
Uh-ya

[Instrumental]

Ooo-Ooo
Ooo-Ooo
Chica boom, chica boom
Chica boom, boom, boom

Dennis: I can turn back the hands of time, you better believe I can.
I...
Otis: I can make the seasons change, just by waving my hand.
Oh, I...
Eddie: I can change anything from old to new.
Paul: The things I want to do the most, I'm unable to do.

Dennis: Unhappy am I with all the powers I possess.
'Cause girl you're the key to my happiness.
Eddie: And I...

Can't get next to you.

Dennis:
Girl, you're blowing my mind 'cause I can't get...(Next to you)
Can't you see these tears I'm crying? I can't get... (Next to you)
Girl, it's you that I need. I gotta get...(Next to you)
Can't you see these tears I'm crying? I can't get... (Next to you)
I, I, I, I... I can't get...(Next to you)
I, I, I, I... I can't get...(Next to you)
Girl, you're blowing my mind...

"Flight of the Conchords" rock!!!! I'm hoping we get the show down here. I've heard the pilot episode is going to be available for download from the HBO site. Yippee.

You can also download a lot of their stuff from here: http://www.whatthefolk.net/out.htm (and with the boys permission as well!)
In fact, their link to this site on their official website reads: It joins www.whatthefolk.net in hosting hundreds of photos from a small but dedicated group of stalkers, many (possibly illegal) downloads and much more information than this, the conchords own official site, does. I heart those boys!

Damn! I meant to post about the Flight of the Conchords show. I must do that tomorrow. The gist of the post is, you can stream the first episode on the HBO site here, or you can download it on iTunes as part of the show's podcast here.

I think fans of the band will find it hilarious, but it might be a tough sell for folks who don't understand their humor. I loved it! I think the most hysterically funny part of the first episode is their one and only fan, who is the poster child for stalkery, over-involved fangirls everywhere. Hee!

James McAvoy is also going to be in 'Becoming Jane' which is a biopic of Jane Austen. And boy would I plan vacations for both Royal Navy Park and Jane Austen World.
