*raises fist to the skies* CURSE YOU, MOVIE THEATRES!!!!!
Can you believe it?

For months, the posters and trailers for "Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing" and "On a Clear Day" have been up at the Fine Arts Cinema here in Indianapolis, and I believe they were supposed to start here last week and this week, respectively.

THEY'RE STILL NOT HERE!!!!

And now the date given for MHBD is May 12 - AFTER I leave Indianapolis! And since this is already playing in Chicago, it will probably be GONE by the time I get there. "On a Clear Day" is also playing there now, so it will probably be gone as well. All I can say is... they damn well better play OACD before I leave!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!

Oh... and I went to see "Slither" last night... and left after about half an hour. It's one of those films where everybody is made to seem ugly and sordid and petty; not enjoyable, even with Nathan Fillion, who just gets to be all "aw, shucks" about a girl he had a crush on who married rich. So, I left! Darn.

*wants her Billy and Sean fix BADLY!!!!*

Oh, but, speaking of LOTR actors - did you know Sean Bean is in this "Silent Hill" coming up? And... omg, doesn't Ian look GORGEOUS as Magneto in the previews of X-Men III? But I'm a little confused: I thought I knew the Dark Phoenix story, but it didn't have anything to do with the story they're doing, yet I seem to see Dark Phoenix in there. Oh, well - it looks a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. I believe it comes out May 26.

Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing is already on DVD here in Germany. I will receive mine tomorrow or Tuesday. It never made it to the theaters :(

But I do have a dvd-projector - not really a "big screen" but much bigger than TV ;)

Yes... and to be honest, I know it best from the Saturday morning cartoon - which was surprisingly good!

Don't know Peter or Kitty... are they both in this one?

It comes out the weekend after my birthday :-) X3, that is.
Yeah, Jean is going to be a Dark Phoenix character in this movie... but it's nothing like the comic book Dark Phoenix saga. For one thing, they never went to outer space in the movie *giggle* The cartoon series was much closer to the comic book than these movies are. It still looks friggin' sweet, though.
On a Clear Day is only playing in Evanston at the moment. I've seen previews for it at the Esquire, though, so it is possible that it will come there eventually, too. Maybe I'll go see that on Easter. Movie theatres are open on Easter, yes?

*L*! How perfect!

Ah - thanks. I knew it from the cartoon series, and yes, I remember it happening in outer sweet. And it DOES look great. Mmmmm... with Ian as Magneto, I'D join the dark side!!!!

Yep, I think movie theatres are open always. *G*

Say, did you read about that Naomi Watts movie about a struggling actress? Whew! Don't see it if you don't want to get depressed - whoa!

OT, but... any further thought into whether you'll be going to The Gathering?

Now it's looking much less likely. I start May 8, and I have to take time off for my niece's wedding on June 3... and then to take time off around July 4? Not really sure. I seem to be cursed with respect to that con... *L*!!! But I would love to photograph Crain some more, the cutie! And see the musical.

{blink blink blink}

Wait a minute. You're expecting a movie to follow the book? {puzzled look} You do realize how very rare that is for movies, don't you? {Smile}

*L*! Well, considering I know so little about X-Men, I thought that this part, which I knew, and which seemed to be very canon, would follow it. You know, there are always some things that have to be in place - like Wolverine's crush on Jean, and so forth. *S*

*joins you in curse and afterwards, writes down all the movie info you have shared, with many thanks.* :)

Hey, I think Shireling and I hold the record for leaving a movie theater the soonest - this afternoon, we left during the first 5 minutes of Narnia! She was just too scared, poor thing. :(

That air raid scared at least one adult I know! {sympathetic smile} I think they felt the rest of the movie was better; certainly I do. {SMILE} Still, remembering how I was as a too-sensitive child, I'd recommend reviewing the rest before deciding if a kid could handle a couple of later scenes. I probably could have handled them sooner, but the real question is "how soon." {Smile}

Thanks :):):) Yep, I think what I may do is watch the movie myself on the "big screen" and then if i still think it's too scary for the wee one, we'll rent the DVD and skip all the scary parts. :)
I know my mom would've been unable to handle the air raid too. *nodnod*

I don't think the battles were as bad, but Aslan's death would have been... intense for me as a kid. {Smile} I could handle it in a book, especially once I knew it turned out okay, but I'm glad I was much older when I first saw it on the screen. {chuckle, SMILE}

That's a good point. In fact I had forgotten that Aslan dies until LJ-folks reminded me of it. :-/

I should have known better... I did know better, I guess, but I was indulging in wishful thinking, & wanted to catch it on the "big screen" before it went away. The DVD route is better for us. ;)
