Watching Russell Crowe on The Actor's Studio...
and it was filmed just after Master and Commander!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*G*

Russell's an interesting guy... not always my favorite person, but a real person, with real faults. They just got to talking about M&C. Eeee! Showing his pre-battle speech. *G* Apparently he was never comfortable on the water. As he says, he took the role for two reasons: to work with Peter Weir... and to try to challenge himself about his problems with water (mostly motion sickness). *G* Sounds like Billy's reasons - except his were: to work with Peter Weir... and surf! *L*!!! I really do wonder how well they got together. I'm happy that they jammed together. I'm thinking that, acting-wise, they are probably pretty similar in philosophy, but that Billy's just better with being comfortable around people and making them comfortable. They're both private, but Russell's more emotional about it, and not as good at deflecting intrusions.

Darn, that was it! Shoot, now they're doing the "what's your favorite word", etc. Example: What is your favorite curse word? "A curse word by itself is nothing. You need to give it a context, and you need to give it some juice, some passion. "Fuck me swinging!"" (BTW, his favorite word is "pusillanimous"... he said his mom used to use it a lot, around people she knew wouldn't know what it means. *G*)

Yay for pusillanimous! Wodehouse taught me that one. It was one of the words Bertie forgot and then remembered a while later. Also one of the few ones I actually looked up in a dictionary. Haven't forgotten it since. Good word.

I stand by my concupiscence, though.

*L*! I thought of you when they asked for "favorite word" and that came up! *L*! You and your big words.

Heh, me and my big words, exactly.

And then I go and trip over something like 'mattock'. Was very pleasd today, though. It cropped up in some Wordsworth poem or other and I wasn't befuddled.

Felt nice. ^_^

Well, but that's a fairly obscure and obsolete term, I would say. *G*

Damn, I'm sorry I missed that. Crowe can be an arse, but to me he is a spectacular actor. On every chat show I've seen him on he's been charming. They are re-releasing Cinderella Man in theatres in a few weeks (Oscar season is starting) ...I think I will go see it.

Oh!!! I missed that when it was first out - I'd love to see it. Thanks for the heads up.
