Just needed to say how much I love you all today.

I've had mortality on my mind lately, mostly due to my cats (OT: they're doing very well, surprisingly), and probably partly due to going to two funerals in a row this summer. I read about _redpanda_'s death, and went over to her LJ to see if I remembered her. I ended up reading the entry written by her husband, and it brought tears to my eyes. She was only 35, and she and her husband had been together 10 years. I don't often wish to be married, but reading that made me wish to have a love like that.

But real reason I'm writing this, is that I went through her icons, to see if I recognized any (and, of course, I found I recognized her "red panda" one), and found myself thinking how much she and I had in common, and how much I would have liked her - her interests, her sense of humor, her cheerfulness - and it hit me how grateful I am that for the people I have met and gotten to know over LJ. So many smart, caring, funny, quirky, passionate people. Thank you, and I'm grateful for you all.

p.s. And, among her icons? One with my photos of Lawrence and Sala holding action figures. If you think that didn't make me cry... then you don't know me very well. *s*

I understand. I did the same thing.
It makes you wonder. But I love you too Ros, and I'm so glad that I have been lucky enough to meet someone as magnificent as yourself.

I didn't know her, but man, that's really sad. I agree with you about the love thing... it would be nice. But, remember, there's always friendship and family love.

That's true. And, as my Zen calendar reminds me: Happiness is something you find within, not something that comes to you from without.

I read about her passing on Mon's journal, so I went to check out her journals. It just broke my heart. I think it said she was born in 1972, right? That's when I was born. It just hit me...hard. I didn't know her, but reading through the entries, and seeing how suddenly this all happened, knowing how young she was and how much she had ahead of her. *cries* It's so sad. It got me to thinking a lot about all of my online friends, and how I hope you are all safe and doing well. *hugs* I cannot express how much you all mean to me.

(((((((hugs))))))))) What a perfect icon you have for this - *s*. I know - it's even more of a shock when it's somebody your own age, who you feel could be you or somebody you know. She seemed very "one of us".

Her name is more complicated than I thought... there's an underscore before AND after (AEB clued me in). Click on my post again when you recieve this and you'll see the corrected link.

She was 35, and had had some pains now and again recently, and all the doctors told her it was an ulcer (btw, I'm doing this from memory, so I may not be completely right, but it will give you the idea). So she had a really bad pain in her shoulder around Labor Day and went into the hospital to find she had colon cancer. And she was gone in a month. Her husband has been kind enough (and strong enough) to let people know what was going on through her lj. It's sad - but also beautiful to know how much she was loved and how much she'll be missed.

I knew her a little. She was one of my Readers and was one of the bigger players in the Sock Puppet Theater where I still play on occasion.

I can't go to her memorial since I'll be in Michigan at that time. Will have to think of something to do as a tribute to her.

It's very sad, Rosamunde. So young and such a talented Tolkien writer.

Really? She was one of the Sock Puppets? I'm so sorry.

You're in Michigan again? I hope you have a good time there.

BTW... I noticed that "Green Street Hooligans" has opened up in Seattle now - just thought I'd make sure you knew.

Many hugs, dear Ros - and what a terrible, sad thing about redpanda - I know I'd read her comments in fileg's journal, and know she will be missed in her LJ community. Her husband's "She won't" post made me lock myself in the bathroom until I was ready to see my family with dry eyes. I can't begin to imagine where he gets the strength and generosity to share his love and grief with the world.

And speaking of sharing - this would be a poorer place if it weren't for your own generosity, most obviously (but not limited to) when it comes to your photos.

*big hugs*

*squish*

it was amazing to see yesterday friends of friends of friends of friends all affected by such a tragic passing whether they knew Kelly well or not at all. No dry eyes here. And what a legacy of love and friendships she has obviously left behind.

how grateful I am that for the people I have met and gotten to know over LJ. So many smart, caring, funny, quirky, passionate people. Thank you, and I'm grateful for you all
