Tickets and Timing for the Lord of the Rings Exhibit
I called up the museum, hoping that I could get tickets "on the cheap" since I'm a member, but it turns out that that only applies to myself. Even if I get a higher level of membership, it generally only helps out with a lower price for an additional adult, or adult and child, and the decrease in ticket cost gets wiped out by the increase in membership cost.

With that said, it makes sense for everybody to buy their own, although we still need to coordinate to get the times right.

Here's the site:

I'm told the first weekend and Saturdays are the ones getting filled.

For the FamilyMoot weekend (Oct. 22/23), I believe it's been decided to go at noon on Sunday, Oct. 23. That would be Ninq/Boo/SB, Dee/Mr. Dee/Shireling, Psyknife, and possibly Graewolf and Hobbitgrrl?

And that's really all I have so far. I'll probably also go the first weekend, as part of "Indymoot" (some folks on a Yahoo group getting together), and on the last weekend, when Abandonada and Rakshi will be here, but they're making their own plans.

So - doublecheck your schedules, and then go ahead and get tix. They're not cheap ($14/adult, $9/child), but that includes the regular museum entrance fee as well.

And if anybody's interested, there's supposed to be a great dinosaur exhibit at the Children's Museum - a possible activity for Saturday? *S* Check it out here: http://www.childrensmuseum.org/catalog/home.asp

Hey, it's cheaper than the Ren Faire! ;)
I just left a message at Mr. Dee's work to double-check if that date would be OK. I hope he calls me back.
*facepalm* I forgot to ask Ninq about the 23rd... did you end up asking her? *scuttles to email before ADD sets in*

And the dinosaur thing looks great for the kids! :) Thanks again for posting the links and being such a good coordinator. I can't wait to see you, the mootmates, and Guilford Smial!

Don't forget Morgan! All right, that's works... but we'll have to go home after the exhibit since we'll both, most likely, have to work.
I must do this, then... get the tickets, that is.

Is she coming? YAY! *G*

I'm figuring most people are staying Saturday night, and leaving after the exhibit on Sunday. Dee had a preference for Sunday, with her schedule. Hold off just a bit in case she and Ninq change their minds when they talk - *G*. And, of course, staying Friday AND Saturday nights is even better! *L*!

Psyknife, I had to re-read what you wrote here -- Who is Morgan? That's my real name!

Noon on Sunday, huh? I guess we'll have to ask for Monday off instead of Friday -- which I was going to do tomorrow! Glad I checked here first!

I'll have to find out if my girlfriend and I can both take off before we buy tickets... which will take a couple of days. I'll let you know. And... thanks for trying!

Since it's a five-hour drive back to our area, and since I'm a grand old 49 and probably will be tired after the exhibit... would Edie and I be welcome to stay the night Sunday? We would have no problem leaving early if you need to get out the door for work or whatever...

Edie is my girlfriend... we've been together a year. I hope you don't have a problem with that..... (we're both female) -- we would be on our best beahvior! ;-)
