... and so I ordered Spotted Dick in a restaurant. Or did I ask you to order for me, Jules, because I was too afraid I couldn't say it without cracking up? *G*

Oh, lord, I used to know what Toad in the Hole is (probably like Pig in a Blanket - *L*!), and Bubble and Squeak is probably something with pig in it... Eels and Mash are (yuck!) eels and mashed potatoes. (Usually it's Bangers and Mash - sausages and mashed potatoes). Mushy peas - yep, just what it sounds like.

Spotted Dick is a kind of pudding (think really moist cake) with raisins (hence the "spotted")... and theh rest are just invented names based on Spotted Dick. And you wouldn't really have all that together, but, yes - traditional English food - pretty damn unhealthy! *L*!

In Master and Commander they had a midshipmen named Richard with bad acne that they used to call Spotted Dick. (*ggl*) Don't worry; he grew out of it!

psssst... and they eat BAKED BEANS with their eggs in the morning! *gasp*

lol wow! Thanks for the education in the "English" dining experience. I'm still getting used to "American" food...I was raised on Polish and remember the first time I had Mac and Cheese was when I was about 10 years old I'd say at a friend's house! foods are facinating

*L*!

Did you know there's a place in Indy that sells only Kolaches? Really!

And, you have to go here: http://english2american.com/dictionary/cat_food.html. The guy who created this is really funny. I bookmarked it ages ago. This takes you to the food section, but he has all sorts of categories of words!
