Owwww... headache! - "You didn't hear about the polar bear?"
I know, strange title. But between seeing more fandom wank (a person doing some amazing RPS drawings that I loved... and yet apparently she argues on another site that homosexuality is wrong?) and then, out of curiousity, reading those strange posts about the Bitter End concert over at CoRo... argh. *L*! Some people definitely got a little carried away there. Jeez - the guys seemed "dour"? *surprised look* Of course, the bad thing is that then you go and start wondering about it yourself... *G*. Hell, I thought they were great! Perhaps it just seemed to people that they weren't as silly as they sometimes are (I'm guessing, since I've only seen 2 concerts and this was one of them) but considering the tight schedule, the larger band playing with them, and the fact that this is a famous venue, not a Buffy Con or little coffeehouse, they were probably a little more professional than usual. *G* What do you think, Jules? Or were you like me and enjoying it too much to even tell? *L*!
And this comment on another thread about their future appearance at The Troubadour made me laugh and groan...!:
I always liked the fact that the one of the dictionary meanings of "troubadour" is "a singer of folk songs." How apt.
*eyes cross* Ummm... you know... did the person not realize that that was WHY The Troubadour was named what it was... and that it's not just a serendipitous coincidence? *G* Kind of like saying "I always like the fact that one of the dictionary meanings of "rock" (as in The Hard Rock Cafe) is "a variety of music played with guitar and drums with a fast beat". *G* Guess they don't realize that the original Troubadour (which was in NY or LA, can't remember) was created as - guess what? - a club for folk singers. *G* Ah, well.... guess it's ancient knowledge that only us oldies know. *G*
Speaking of which - heard CBGB mentioned somewhere the other day, Lorna - squee!
Anyway. Just feeling a bit out of sorts today... *G*. Has been a very unproductive weekend and I'm at work and should be, well, working! Got to catch up on some things before Monday rolls around.
Have fun watching the Oscars, everyone! *waves*
hee been having a bit of a look up and down the boards over there now?!
nah ..not at all - Thy've played The Bitter End for years- it's coming home. There are some very energetic, bouncy, funny performances from there too! ..
.. you will enjoy this page of videos now some time!! It's my favourite collection - especially Softly where they all switch positions and the 6 minute long Oklahoma..which is hysterical!
- And I think they are filmed from our table!
So the whole like it/didn't like it business - I'm leaving alone - because we definitely were not the only ones who loved it .. and the folks that started off saying they didn't are perfectly entitled - though I don't get it!!
eww weekend working! -
Not watching the Oscars - not worth staying up til the early hours THIS year!
? Reading this on my yahoo... is "this page of videos" a link? Not coming up like that on my view. Or... are you talking about the ones up on your LJ which I haven't had a chance to look at yet? *G*
whooooaaaaa..... cool pic in your icon - is that yours???? NICE work on iconing!
And yes... the link is appreciated; ignore my previous reply. *G*
Lorna's photo - my cropping and colouring :)
they are well worth a watch*L*
*LOL*!!!! Those were GREAT!!!! Saw Hollywood and Softly; will save Oklahoma for tomorrow. *G*
Am I just bad at recognizing people or was almost NOBODY in the band the same as when we saw them, except for Adam and Eric, and Jordan?
nice dave - it is the best!!!
nope you are good - only those 3.
The rest of the band are a common rotation *groan* only Adam and Eric officially constitute CR - but Jordan is pretty much a constant fixture and fitting these past years! .. yay!
nice SAVE I meant!
ACK dROOPY MISTAKE!!

((((((Ros)))))) Will you call me, m'dear? I've lost my old cell phone, my palm pilate ran out of batteries months ago, and my old computer died...therefore I no longer have you phone number *sigh*. I miss you and want to catch up and want to know who this Adam is that you all mooted about and I'm terribly sad that it has been so long since I've seen my mootmates.
I'll try to m'dear!
*ggl* Do you realize you wrote "palm pilate"? Easter on your mind much? *ggl!*
And, in short, there is a great band called Common Rotation (www.commonrotation.com) that Jules and Lorna fell in love with when they played at one of the Collectormanias. Now, the reason the band was there was because Adam Busch once played the leader of a trio of geeky high school villains on Buffy, so he was there signing. The band is folk music, rock style, with a bit of geekiness thrown in. Think of They Might Be Giants, or Bare Naked Ladies. Clever lyrics, some funny, some political.
So, these crazy ladies decided to fly ALL THE WAY TO NYC to see them at The Bitter End, a venue on Bleecker St. in Greenwich Village that's been famous since the folk music days (yay Peter Paul and Mary!) and they'd been converted so quickly when they saw them live that I decided I wanted to see them live, too - and see Lorna and Jules.
*whew* So that's what's up. Hey - I'll email you my number! *G* Hope all is well with you and yours.
stop covering Lorna in my CR love - she'll get upset!
She never saw them at Collectormania .. just me and Jo.
She flew all the way to NYC to see ..... Lisa and Mich :)!!
Darn... I'm just so used to her being at ALL of the C's - I assumed she was there, too! *L*!
ah FW can be a strange place...I go there a little when I need to laugh:)
I don't get it at all, and then the exact same people talk about them being much more Bouncy!squee at The Point, whereas I found it the other way around. Well everyone is entitled to their opinions I suppose;)
nope no oscar watch for me....although, dagnabit, I hear I missed Prince!
