Can anybody help with the following questions? I really appreciate it!
How do I save a group of photos as a zip file (for ease in sending)?
How do I "hide" a link under words... or, better yet, a thumbnail photo? So that when somebody clicks on the photo, they can see the large version? And... where do I host the large version?
And, for the umpteenth time - because I am SOOOO thick! - how do you put somebody's name in as a link to their LJ, and how do you do crossouts?
Um, we'll see if this works.
For the last two:
*lj user="username"* - replace the asteriks with < and >
*strike* */strike* - same as above.
Hiding a link under words... hm. My program does this. Lemme see.
">words words words</a* - again, replace the asteriks and put real stuff in there.
Zip file - Dunno about Windows. Sorry!
Thank you!!! I always want to use "username" and "strikeout"; never remember the right commands. *S*
Well, that last bit got eaten. Dang. Replacing more stuff...
">words words words*/a*
The second-to-last asterisk should be this:
Whoa - before I posted this, the last part of my first post wasn't there, and now it is. Weird. Forgive the clutter, eh?
You are NOT thick.
Check out the FAQ HERE
for the answers to most of your questions. :)
*L*! Thanks - but I go blind trying to find the FAQ I want in there. *reddens* That's why I just ask.
You are NOT thick
Ditto, ditto. Forgot. Why I post in LJ while supper is on the stove is beyond me.
Have you tried photobucket for hosting the larger files? It's all I use so I kinda don't know of anything else outside the that bubble. photobucket.com
Thanks! I do use photobucket, and know how to paste it in... but not sure how people put in a thumbnail, and have it show up large on a blank space...
That I'm afraid I'm at a loss for. There must be someone on LJ somewhere that can help. Just can't think where to ask.
Zipping files: Save 'em to a folder, then use Winzip to zip 'em up. Mind, I can't recall HOW to do this, but it's basically opening the application and pressing the right buttons, then navigating to the folder you want zipped.
For thumbnails on basic websites you can use two versions of the pic - the thumbnail and the large one. (At least, this is how it often WAS done...there may be something where you use just the one now, but I don't know it.) You then use the code (sorta like someone did above, I'm using asterisks in place of the < brackets):
See, I haven't used Winzip in awhile, because on the Mac it is "Stuffit" instead...
So you tell your Mac to stuff it? Shame on you! *G*
Huh... I'll give that a try! Thanks. *G*
*comes in to save the day*
Oh, well, everyone beat me to it... uh... ok, then
*backs out sheepishly*
*L*! You're a Mac user, too, aren't you? *G*
Yep :) But I know my way around both types of computers :)
Ah... so you go both ways, eh? *L*! *G*
and now homework .. all of these functions in one post ... GO!
EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! I hate these pop quizzes - *L*!
